Inspiration for Pilates Strap™ came from real experience to solve a real need.

After owning and operating a successful Pilates studio in San Diego for 20 years and having trained all walks from seniors and everyday folks to NFL footballers, Mega rock stars, and Olympic athletes, I wanted to get my clients who were coming to me once or twice a week, a real resistance workout they could do at home that resembled my studio workouts. This way they could follow a program, do it on their own time, and avoid the cost of a pilates reformer. I started developing the Pilates Strap™ prototypes and the springs@home method a couple of years before COVID hit and caused my studio to close indefinitely. During COVID lockdown, I began to fast track my R & D with 12 prototypes I had with my current clients online.

The feedback was nothing short of amazing for muscle strength and development, cardio, flexibility, and mobility.

IT WAS ON!

The live online classes were a hit and training together was able to continue without a hitch. I’ve thrown myself into product development, production, writing educational materials, and producing videos to assist the spring@home training experience. As products and educational materials are ready and available, they will be released for purchase. The Pilates Strap System uses Springs@home to provide you with both traditional reformer exercises as well as our signature “Pilates Fitness” exercises that have been proven to change bodies at Agility Studio in Carlsbad, California for 20 years.

A mentor, educator, and forever student, Rana has more than 30 years as a competitive and professional athlete, 15 years as an international model in NYC and LA, and 25 years experience in mind, body, and coaching practices. She began in the healing arts as a certified yoga and celebrity massage therapist in LA and later became a certified Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and corrective exercise specialist. She was led to pilates after her own repetitive use injuries from Ashtanga yoga combined with surfing that tore her shoulder labrum. Pilates helped her rehab and avoid surgery.

She opened Agility Studio in 2004 and was awarded “Best studio design” from the prestigious Balanced Body. Rana has documented many of her own signature exercises in her pilates teacher training courses and manuals that are included in the Pilates Strap™ Method. After becoming a mom in 2007, she became dedicated to pre and postnatal exercise for her clients which included becoming trained as a doula labor coach. In 2010, Rana began racing triathlon gaining podium finishes and wins. Currently Her love of cycling keeps her busy in her spare time on the road, gravel, and in the mountains.

Her passions include skiing, snowboarding, cooking, live music, hiking, child advocacy, and child abuse prevention.

Why the need for more?

Most of us familiar with @home pilates know that pilates reformer knock offs can be disappointing and ineffective. Mat only classes are great but cover just a fraction of most people’s fitness needs for whole-body fitness and strengthening. Mat classes can also be back and neck intensive without first developing necessary stability. The need for more includes the resistance that springs and added props provide. This is part of what makes pilates so unique with Joseph Pilate’s original innovations. Springs, unlike bands, last much longer. Bands can be used at your own risk because of snapping. While in the initial stages of deciding springs vs bands, it became clear that most company owners were involved in some sort of band snapping lawsuit. That was enough for me. Springs are more safe and strong while adding much more muscle development than bands. I have been using and teaching with springs in the studio with all of my clients for over 20 years!

I consider myself a mentor, educator, and a forever student and life athlete. I ran track and cross country starting at 14 and became a sponsored professional windsurfer at 19. I grew up as an International model and actress starting at 15 with NYC and LA as my home base. It was an exciting time but my heart was in mind, body, and coaching practices. I began in the healing arts as an Ashtanga yoga practitioner and certified yoga instructor. Additionally, I became a celebrity massage therapist and later became a certified Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and corrective exercise specialist.
